Plan to play throughout the area and then retreat to the safe, modern, clean and secure family-oriented atmosphere for which Plano is famous. Shopping in Plano
Plano is paradise for people who love to shop. The city has more than 70 shopping centers with stores offering goods to fit every taste and budget. Countless boutiques, specialty stores, unique one-of-a-kind shops, antique stores and galleries are all around Plano and in our historic downtown as well. Nearby are other popular malls, some now worldfamous, including Galleria Dallas, the recently expanded NorthPark Center, Valley View Mall, Stonebriar Centre and Highland Park Village.
Plano Schools
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) rated Plano ISD “exemplary” on 18 out of 25 academic indicators, through its 2008 accountability ratings report. Plano ISD was rated “recognized” on five indicators and “academically acceptable” on two. Plano ISD improved in 20 out of 25 indicators for 2008, with 12 of those indicators already in the “exemplary range,” where incremental improvement is most difficult. Twenty-eight Plano campuses earned “exemplary” ratings.
Twenty-four Plano schools have captured the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence honor, awarded by the U.S. Department of Education. Several Plano ISD schools have been twice honored.
